California State Mining & Mineral Museum

California's official mineral collection, including the Fricot Nugget — a 13-pound crystallized gold specimen found in 1865. Underground mine tunnel exhibit and junior ranger program for kids.
Mariposa County's Old Stone Jail

Mariposa County Courthouse
5088 Bullion St, Mariposa, CA
Built in 1854, this is the oldest courthouse west of the Rockies still in use. A National Historic Landmark and a key stop on any downtown walking tour.
Natural Wonders
Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias
Yosemite National Park, CA
Home to more than 500 giant sequoias, including the 2,700-year-old Grizzly Giant. Access via Yosemite's South Entrance (Highway 41). Free shuttle from the Welcome Center, typically April–November.
Stockton Creek Preserve
Mariposa, CA
Trails just outside downtown Mariposa. Good for a morning walk or trail run before the July 4 event.
Hite Cove Trail
Near El Portal, CA
Historic gold mining trail along the Merced River's South Fork. Famous for wildflowers in spring, but worth a hike any time.
